Common Special Occasion hairstyle questions

Why should I have a consultation up-do?
The consultation is important to do before your wedding day. One of the main reasons for your practice is so that you can try a few different looks to know exactly what looks best with your face shape and facial features. The second reason is so that the stylist can get to know your hair better and learn how to execute the look perfectly for the day of your wedding. We want you to build a trust with your stylist so that on the day of the wedding you are relaxed and confident in your look.

Think about how many wedding dresses you had to try on before you found the perfect one! We want you to have that same feeling on the day of your wedding! Plus this will give you the perfect opportunity to give the stylist any feedback when you have already worn the style for a whole day. Another reason is in case you need any accessories put in your hair; you need to decide where you want your veil and/or blush placed so the stylist can build support for it in your style. And we can take this time to decide if we need hair extensions and/or hair pieces put in previous to the wedding day. It is important you look and feel perfect!

Should I bring pictures?
Yes!!  Pictures are great so your stylist can have an idea of what you are looking for and what your style is. Even bring in a picture of your wedding dress so we know the theme and feel to your wedding day.

What should I wear for the trial style and on the day of?
Make sure you have a zip up or a button up shirt so you don’t have to pull anything over your head. We wouldn’t want anything in your hair to get pulled out or catch on hairpieces!

Should I wash my hair?
Clean hair is preferred. Your stylist can always put products in your hair to make it more manageable, but it is harder to take out oils.

What should I bring?
Bring any accessories you’d like to have put in your hair. This is also important to bring on any trial up-do’s you are doing. Such as Flowers, veils, tiaras, jewels etc.

Bring pictures of styles you like too!

When should I color/cut my hair?
We don’t recommend doing a dramatic hair color change before your wedding. If you want to be a blonde for example, start this process at least six months prior to your wedding day.  This way you will be prepared for any surprises! Then you should only need a refresh color one to two weeks prior to the wedding. (Depending on hair growth)

Getting your hair cut is completely up to you as long as you do not have this service done in between the consultation up-do and day of the wedding.

Is a photographer allowed to come to the salon to take pictures?
Absolutely!!  We know you want to have lots of pictures for your special day.  We do ask that the photographer respect the time of the stylist and does not interrupt any services.

When should I reserve my appointments for my Wedding Day?
As soon as you know the date!  Wedding season is always a busy season and many are booked a year in advance. We ask that you fill out a bridal contract and return it to the salon so we can ensure that we have the proper amount of time booked out for your special day.

What food and/or beverages are provided?
Our salon provides beverages daily such as:
Coffee / Tea / Water / Soda Pop / Cappuccino / Latte / Hot Chocolate
You can bring in your own food and drinks to the salon for your party. Making sure you eat throughout the day is important to maintain energy on this special day!

Do you travel for wedding parties?
We do travel to areas in Yorkville for a traveling fee of $300.00. We may travel outside of Yorkville but fees may be additional and need to be preapproved by management.
